Why did you choose UF College of Pharmacy?
I chose the UF College of Pharmacy because it had always been a dream of mine since I was an undergrad at UF. The college is ranked highly in terms of residency, fellowship and research.
What opportunities exist for UF pharmacy students outside of the classroom?
Since we receive our intern licenses during our first year, you can begin working as an intern in pharmacies in the area, even with no pharmacy experience before entering the college. Other than internships, there are many volunteering opportunities with student organizations such as the Equal Access Clinic, which helps us to gain hands-on experience while also helping underserved populations.
What internship, research or clinical experiences have stood out to you?
My recent internship at Walmart for my Community Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience, or CIPPE, has stood out to me. Not only was the pharmacist I was working with a UF College of Pharmacy alumn, but she was trained by the same person who is my current boss at my job. I felt truly honored to be able to have that experience with my preceptor, which also reminded me that pharmacy is a small world. Also, seeing how independent versus corporate pharmacies operate was insightful.
If you could sum up your UF College of Pharmacy experience in one word, what would it be and why?
If I could sum up my experience thus far in one word, it would be “enriching”. There is so much I have learned in the short time I’ve been at the UF College of Pharmacy. Although the classes can be challenging, everything has been worthwhile, and I have felt myself growing into a better professional.
