When you were looking at pharmacy schools, what attracted you to UF?
The UF College of Pharmacy is truly a “Pharmily.” The positive and welcoming environment that I experienced in every interaction on my interview day and as a pre-pharmacy student inescapably drew me toward UF. The support system of the faculty, admissions team, student affairs team and other students is evident throughout the college and made UF that much more appealing.
How does being a part of an academic health system benefit pharmacy students?
As part of an academic health system, we have a variety of opportunities and resources available to us. This may include shadowing clinical professors at UF Health Shands Hospital, volunteering at clinics within the community or even teaching a part of our classes. We also take part in various interprofessional collaborations to simulate working on a comprehensive health care team.
How is UF preparing you to be a great pharmacist?
UF provides so many opportunities to use the knowledge we learn in the classroom and apply it to the real world. All our pharmacy rotations are set up by the college to provide us with the best learning experiences at community pharmacies, hospitals, clinics and other sites. Our student organizations also allow us to volunteer in the community at clinics, brown bag events, transition of care teams and many more sites.
What advice would you give someone applying to the UF College of Pharmacy?
My advice would be to be yourself — you are the expert on yourself! This applies to the entire application process from the application questions to the in-person interviews. The current students, faculty and staff all just want to get to know you and see if you would be a great fit for the college!
