What drew you to UF over other pharmacy programs?
I chose UF because it offered the right blend of academic rigor, professional opportunities and a sense of community. As a Florida native, I already knew UF had a strong reputation of excellence, but what stood out to me was how genuinely welcoming the faculty and students were before I was even admitted. On my interview day, I could already tell it was a place where students work hard and bring out the best in each other.
What area of pharmacy research most interests you, and why?
Compounding pharmacy interests me the most because it allows us to personalize medications when standard commercial options fall short. Whether it is due to allergies, dietary restrictions or unique needs like pediatric or veterinary dosing, compounding helps us meet patients where they are and create personalized medication that works for them. I love how it brings together science, creativity and compassion to make health care more equitable and patient-centered.
What has been your favorite course at the UF College of Pharmacy and why?
My favorite course was the non-sterile compounding elective. I loved learning about compounding in the skills lab, so taking the elective was a great way to further develop those skills and gain more hands-on experience, and it reminded me that pharmacy isn’t always one-size-fits-all. One of my favorite things to make are troches and lollipops.
What is your favorite place to eat or hang out in Gainesville?
I love the amount of nature parks around Gainesville and going on adventures with my dog Peanut Butter. We go to Depot Park or out to Paynes Prairie.
What student events or traditions do you enjoy the most?
I love point-of-care testing events! These events give students a chance to practice their skills in a meaningful way while also offering health care screenings and education to members of the community who may not have easy access to care. It is incredibly rewarding to give back to the Gainesville community while supporting my peers as they grow into confident future pharmacists.
