What’s the social environment like among students at the Jacksonville campus?
The Jacksonville campus has a very open and friendly atmosphere. Students here support each other, whether it’s sharing tips, creating study groups or just being there for one another during stressful times. Because it’s a smaller campus, you get to know your classmates well, and that makes a big difference. I recommend joining any organization that piques your interest, including the professional fraternities.
How has being a student at UF College of Pharmacy opened doors for you?
Being a student here has connected me with some incredible mentors and preceptors who have helped guide my career goals. I’ve had opportunities to participate in interprofessional collaboration, join pharmacy organizations and get involved in community health events, all of which have expanded my professional network and strengthened my CV.
What’s your favorite way to unwind after a long week of classes and studying?
After a long week, I like to unwind by spending time exploring the city, whether it’s grabbing food, going to a park, or enjoying a movie at a local theater. I also find that going to the gym or cooking helps me reset for the next week.
What advice would you give someone preparing for their first year of pharmacy school?
My biggest advice would be to stay organized and not be afraid to ask for help. The first year can be overwhelming, but using a planner, forming study groups and building relationships with faculty can make a huge difference. Also, try and incorporate technology into your studying, such as an iPad for notes and AI to help create mnemonics and study tricks.
What are your career plans?
Right now, I’m interested in pursuing a residency after graduation to further specialize, potentially in clinical pharmacy or ambulatory care. Long term, I see myself working in a setting where I can have direct patient interaction, help manage chronic conditions and give back by precepting students one day.
